Story Blossoms Terms of Service

Story Blossoms is operated by Story Blossoms (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2026/508095/07) (“we”, “us”). These Terms are a legal agreement between you and us.

1. Who can use Story Blossoms

You must be at least 18 to create and control an account. You may use it to make stories for yourself and the members of your household, and you’re responsible for supervising any child who uses it. By creating an account you confirm this and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. The service

Story Blossoms generates personalized, age-appropriate audio stories (with optional narration and illustrations) for the whole family — from toddlers to teens, plus an all-ages Family mode — controlled from your account with a PIN-protected child mode.

3. Your account

You’re responsible for keeping your login and Settings PIN confidential and for all activity under your account, including supervising anyone who uses it. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use. The service and what it creates are for your household’s personal, non-commercial use; if you use it for any business or commercial purpose, you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from that use.

4. Jelly beans (credits)

Stories are made using “jelly beans” — digital credits. New families receive a small number of free jelly beans. One jelly bean makes a story up to five minutes; longer stories use more. Jelly beans are purchased through our payments provider, Creem, which is the Merchant of Record for your purchase. Jelly beans are non-transferable and aren’t directly exchangeable for cash, but they don’t expire — unused jelly beans stay valid and redeemable for at least three years. Refunds are handled according to our Refund Policy and your local consumer law.

5. Acceptable use

Use Story Blossoms only for its intended purpose. Don’t attempt to misuse, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or access it in unauthorized ways.

6. AI-generated content

Stories, narration and illustrations are generated using artificial intelligence (AI) — via Google’s Gemini Developer API (currently Gemini 3.5 Flash for the story text, Gemini 2.5 Flash for voice-to-text, Gemini 3.1 Flash TTS for narration, and Imagen 4.0 for pictures) — and are provided for entertainment. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected. Where you ask for scripture, history, or a story about a real person, we aim to be faithful and respectful — but AI can get things wrong, so treat these as gentle, age-appropriate retellings, not authoritative, factual, or complete sources, and not advice. Any educational themes (counting, science, learning to read) are playful practice only — not formal teaching and not a guarantee of accuracy or results. Stories about real people are fictionalised retellings, not statements of fact. Requests are moderated and we apply age-appropriate safeguards, but a responsible adult should review content and supervise younger listeners. You decide what’s appropriate for your household, in line with our Acceptable Use Policy.

7. Your content and ownership

As between you and us, and to the extent we hold such rights under our AI providers’ terms and applicable law, you own the stories, narration and pictures created in your account, for your household’s personal, non-commercial use. We keep all rights in the service, our software, models and brand. Because of how generative AI works, what is created may not be unique — other households may receive similar results — and may not qualify for copyright or other protection. Our grant does not cover other people’s content.

8. Disclaimers and liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) gross negligence or wilful misconduct; or (d) anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your mandatory rights as a consumer where you live. Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law: the service is provided “as is” and “as available”; we exclude all implied warranties; we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or any loss of profit, goodwill or data; and our total liability arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some places don’t allow some of these limits, so some may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.

9. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Story Blossoms and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for misuse or to comply with the law.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. This does not remove mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
